While patent leather was originally used on Michael Jordan’s first signature shoe, the Air Jordan 1, the Air Jordan 1 was the first time Jordan Brand used the material.
The Air Jordan 1 “Gold Toe” was introduced during NBA All-Star Weekend in 2018 and has a Black patent leather upper with Metallic Gold accents on the toe box, tongue logo, and heel panel. A White lateral side panel and a Black medial side panel, both with a matching midsole and rubber outsole, are also included.
The Air Jordan 1 “Patent Bred,” set to appear in 2021, gives the iconic “Bred” colorway a shiny makeover. It has a patent leather top with a Black and Red color scheme, a White midsole, and a Red rubber outsole.
